In 2025, Artify was engaged by the Tonkin Extension Alliance (TEA), in collaboration with Main Roads Western Australia and the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, to develop the THETRU Public Art Plan for the Tonkin Highway Extension and Thomas Road Upgrade project. Artify was appointed as Public Art Coordinator, responsible for guiding best-practice commissioning and delivery of public and community art integrated across this major infrastructure corridor.

Artify's approach is grounded in celebrating an authentic sense of place, ensuring that creativity, cultural narratives and community identity are embedded from the outset of design. The Public Art Plan establishes a clear framework for integrating artworks within underpasses, bridges, noise walls, shared paths and key intersections, enhancing visual amenity, supporting wayfinding, deterring vandalism and contributing to safer and more welcoming environments for all users.

Central to the strategy is a place-based narrative vision, Connected Country, developed through cultural research, stakeholder collaboration and on-Country engagement. Artify worked closely with project partners and Aboriginal engagement advisors through cultural workshops and site visits to ensure that stories of Country, ecology, movement, history and community life are expressed respectfully and meaningfully across the corridor.

The Plan outlines curatorial themes, governance processes, artist procurement pathways and community participation opportunities, ensuring that public art outcomes are site-responsive, culturally informed and enduring. Artify will continue to oversee artists through concept development, design documentation, fabrication, installation and handover, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and long-term asset management considerations.
