In a two-staged approach, St John of God Murdoch Hospital (SJGMH) is undergoing a major redevelopment to meet the growing and evolving healthcare needs of the community. The development includes a new Multi-storey Car Park (MSCP) and Mental Health Unit (MHU), creating further facilities and amenities for the future. The campus upgrades also include a new central ring road to improve traffic flow and safety, and new end-of-trip (EOT) facilities for staff, with secure bike and e-vehicle storage, located beneath the South Wing.

Public art will be woven into the development to enhance the experience of the hospital for patients, healthcare staff, visitors and the wider community who use and experience the hospital. In mid-2025, St John of God Health Care engaged Artify to develop and deliver the Public Art Program for the redevelopment, expanding their extensive artwork collection and delivering the project's Percent for Art contributions.

Recognising a gap in the collection, Artify developed a strategy and procurement process for the first stage, engaging a female Noongar artist through a limited competition methodology to develop a site-specific concept for the new multi-storey car park glazing and a sculptural landscape opportunity. Artist Dana Garlett was selected as the preferred artist, with her work recently progressing into design development.
