Realside and Lendlease engaged Artify to commission Whadjuk Noongar artist Sharyn Egan to create two bespoke artworks for the Palace Tower.

Boorloo Kepa (Perth waters) is a large woven work on a key wall in the business lounge, at the transition from the conference space to the lobby. Crafted from sisal rope and waxed cotton cord, it reimagines the network of lakes that once dotted Boorloo, now hidden beneath the city, as a topographical constellation of memories and histories. The work is a reminder of these lost waterways and wetlands, and of the role water bodies play in sustaining both life and culture.

The second work, Maap Wirn (body and spirit), is a painted triptych with an accompanying lightbox at the apex of the building's lift core. Both artworks were created using ochre, pigments and balga resin. Balga (xanthorrhoea) is among the oldest living plants on earth and a valuable resource for Noongar people, who have used its resin for thousands of years as medicine, food, shelter and fire-starting.

Together, the works reclaim space within the urban landscape for the cultural histories and contemporary narratives of the Whadjuk Noongar people, evoking meeting places, connection and the journeys that link us across time and place.
