St John of God Subiaco Hospital is inviting Expressions of Interest in a national call for artist teams to deliver a suite of public artwork commissions as part of its redevelopment.
Reimagined as a world-class centre of excellence, St John of God Subiaco Hospital will offer person-centred care within a contemporary environment that supports healing, new life, clinical excellence and innovation. Public art will play a meaningful role in shaping this environment, contributing to a welcoming, enriching, and memorable public realm experience that supports the wellbeing of patients, staff and visitors.
This opportunity will suit interdisciplinary and intercultural artist teams working across, though not limited to, sculpture, fine art, graphic design, illustration, writing and poetry, with experience in developing artwork for large-scale applications.
SCOPE
The project seeks high-quality, contemporary and site-specific designs for a suite of artworks including:
An Entry Sculpture
Integrated Designs across a range of available landscape surfaces
Integrated Design into the Ambulance privacy fencing
ARTIST TEAM REQUIREMENTS
Artist teams must include a Noongar artist and/or cultural advisor, and at least one other WA-based role.
The project also encourages applications that demonstrate a meaningful approach to engaging and involving an early-career creative, working with the support of an experienced practitioner, and/or artists local to the area, who may form part of the creative team.
PROCESS
Three artist teams will be shortlisted from the Expressions of Interest received and invited to develop Concept Design Package, for which a fee will be paid. From these, one artist team will be selected to progress their designs and deliver all public art opportunities within the brief.
